Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) is a ‘by invitation only’ fashion event that focuses on bringing together the major fashion gurus of the fashion industry to a single stage. Overseen by an advisory board, the Dubai Fashion Week 2009 saw a glamorous event with the designers setting up exquisite agendas for the summer/spring. This show promised a not-to-be missed fashion experience showcasing the exquisite collection of about 28 designers from the region.

With international celebrities such as Claudia Schiffer and Christina Aguilera, Dubai Fashion Week was a remarkable display of local pool of talent creating sparkling, Swarovski-encrusted full length couture dresses while others were romancing with the crowd with their classy yet glam collection while still others gaining a huge appreciation with their heavily embroided and jeweled bridal wear.
The emerging talent at Dubai Fashion Week also displayed great flair by displaying off miniskirts and cocktail dresses in metals, velvets and chains while others showing off playful range in bold colors, big prints and flowing fabrics. There were corsets, puffball skirts, silver and gold belts clinching to the waists, fishtail dresses, printed and plain wool with mixed colors.
Being new to the Fashion weeks, Dubai Fashion Week brought many local talents in the spotlight revealing their creative skills. On Day 1, the Royal Rickshaw managed to awe the audience by their glamorous kaftans whereas Mimi continued the DFW by showing her bright, flowing, traditional evening gowns and full length dresses on Day 2. With see thru fabrics and sheer chiffons with heavy embellishments of glittery and colorful jewels, the dresses were perfect for modern day Muslim women. Blooming reds and sunny yellows and hot pinks and the classic blacks and whites were the colors of the show.
Modern day Abayas with British check prints and stripes, rich Gold borders and jeweled embellishments, the clothes displayed at DFW were aimed at the clothing needs of Muslim women who wish to dress up fashionably yet modestly.
Pakistani designers dazzled the ramp with their creations at the Dubai Fashion Week. With names like Hassan Sheheryar Yasin and Amir Adnan, DFW was all about modest clothing, exquisite collections from bridal to prêt wear.
